He is the holder of BL and LLB degrees from the University of Zimbabwe and a Masters in Human Rights Peace and Development from Africa University. He has vast experience in Criminal and Civil Litigation, Conveyancing, Corporate and Commercial Work and Human Rights. He has been in private practice since 17 January 1985. He is married to Monica, and they have four children. Gonese is a keen golfer and a member of Hillside and Chapman Golf Club.
